PHILIP R. HIRSCHFELD concentrates his practice in the areas of foreign investment in U.S. real estate, cross-border investments by U.S. companies operating abroad, and income tax planning for high net-worth individuals. He regularly advises clients on matters regarding F.A.T.C.A. and Offshore Voluntary Compliance. He has lectured on those topics for the ABA and New York University’s Advanced International Tax Institute and has authored articles on those topics for BNA’s International Tax Management Journal, the Journal of Taxation and Regulation of Financial Institutions, and the Journal of Taxation of Investments.
Mr. Hirschfeld is a member of the ABA Section of Taxation, where he is the co-chair of the F.A.T.C.A. Subcommittee. He has contributed to the Committee’s governmental submissions on F.A.T.C.A. and corporate inversions. He is also a member of the ABA Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law, where he is vice-chair of the Committee on Federal Taxation of Real Estate. Mr. Hirschfeld is a recipient of the Nolan Fellowship, which recognizes leadership qualities and a commitment to the Tax Section.
