Volume 11 No 1    /    Read Article

By Sattar Abdoula and Mariam Rajabally (Guest Authors)

Rightly called “the Pearl of the Indian Ocean," Mauritius is much more than a popular tourist destination. Recent World Bank statistics identify Mauritius as the country with the second highest per capita G.D.P. in Africa. Mauritius maintains relationships with key African and international bodies, such as the Southern African Development Community (“S.A.D.C.”), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (“C.O.M.E.S.A.”), the World Trade Organization, and the Commonwealth of Nations. Sattar Abdoula, the C.E.O. of Grant Thornton Mauritius, and Mariam Rajabally, a partner in the international financial services and tax at Grant Thornton Mauritius, take a deep dive into the tax, financial, and commercial benefits that are available in Mauritius, and why it remains an important gateway into Africa.   See more →
